Convenient access to Little Sugar Creek Greenway in the Dilworth neighborhood makes Berkshire Dilworth a central, interwoven component to the surrounding urban landscape.
Berkshire Dilworth stands in the Dilworth community as a luxury multi-family development attached to both the City and nature. Tailored rooftop views give residents the sight of the nearby cityscape, enhancing the regal ambience that Berkshire Dilworth strives to maintain. The sophisticated exterior brings forth a modern design that coincides with the greenway in its proximity. Two courtyards stand as accessible areas of comfort within the confines of the site, fashioned with grills, pools, and greenery that give residents a sense of upper-class hotel accommodations in their own home.
Beyond the doors of the complex is convenient access to grocery stores and other local retail. In the design of the site, our team made sure that the orientation of trails and other walking areas encouraged residents to reduce their carbon footprint in their daily activities. The efforts of the property to continue this theme can be seen in their bike sharing programs and other initiatives to stay true to sustainability.
LandDesign focused on amplifying the quaint atmosphere of the Dilworth neighborhood. Providing residents with the accessibility to Midtown’s booming restaurant scene and retail selections was essential to the design. Berkshire Dilworth is home to 300 units built across 2.3 acres and incorporated with direct access to Little Sugar Creek Greenway, Levine’s Children Hospital, Queen’s College and the Carolinas Medical Center. Being within minutes of these locations compliments the surrounding green environment. The convenience and connectivity of the site to the outside shops and key landmarks pushes residents to embrace the natural charm of the greenway.
Bronze certification from the National Green Building Council was no easy accomplishment. Striking the perfect connection with the already existing environment while giving the site a sense of presence became a challenge when considering how to maintain these natural elements. The site was built at a distance to minimize impact to natural growth on the greenway and took into consideration the ramifications of building near these important green corridors.
