What does it mean to be a firm that transcends generations? At LandDesign, it means we are committed to evolving our practice to be relevant and valuable to our clients and the communities we serve. One way we do this is by identifying leaders early in their career, and giving them opportunities to grow as stewards of our practice and culture. This makes it especially rewarding to recognize two new board members, Gabriela Cañamar Clark and Brent Martin, who have been elevated to Partners at the firm.
Gabriela Cañamar Clark, Partner
Gabriela is a design leader with a passion for placemaking. For over 20 years, she has impacted some of LandDesign’s greatest destination projects, including National Harbor, American Way and King of Prussia Town Center. She is currently leading a number of urban redevelopment projects throughout the Washington, DC area, including Crystal City and Carlyle Crossing, and is also providing design direction on resort and entertainment projects in Orlando, FL.
Many know Gabriela for her boundless energy that allows her to juggle client and family demands with ease, but what truly sets her apart is her commitment to mentoring others. Although she is a leader in our DC office, she embraces opportunities to work with LandDesigners across the firm to influence the delivery of great design. Always willing to give her time and share her expertise, she has truly left creative fingerprints on projects throughout the firm.
Brent Martin, Partner
Brent is a multi-faceted design leader who understands how to design to the market. Having worked in five of our six offices, Brent finds it easy to work across the firm and service both clients and teammates – always sensitive to the unique qualities of a project that are informed by location. Prior to starting our Boulder, CO office, Brent was a Principal in our DC office, where he worked on a number of successful master planned communities, such as Willowsford and Brambleton.
Comfortable with changing scenery, Brent volunteered to take on the ambitious task of growing LandDesign’s presence in the west and launched our Boulder office in 2017. His unique ability to design at any scale and support areas of high growth has primed him for this quickly evolving market. From master planning the future of Painted Prairie, to designing the next smart city of Peña Station, Brent has found that the greater Denver region aligns with his passion for creating dynamic and desirable communities.
Our firm’s growth and expansion nationally is not only a testament to the great design leadership we have, but also the strategic leadership that has strengthened our brand and broadened our relationships. Two individuals have contributed to this by keeping us focused on our goals and positioned accordingly. We are excited to recognize that leadership by promoting Ashley Clark to Principal, and Deborah Miller to Executive Director and Board Advisor.
Ashley Clark, Principal
Ashley is LandDesign’s first-ever non-design Principal. Over the last five years, Ashley has become our strategic champion, providing organization and oversight to the implementation of our ambitious strategic plan, keeping us accountable to achieving the goals we set. She has also grown our award-winning communications team, which has played a key role in evolving LandDesign’s brand as we have expanded nationally. Ashley’s background in architecture and passion for brand communications and strategy have proven a powerful combination for influencing LandDesign’s growth, and we are excited to recognize the unique perspective and momentum Ashley brings by elevating her to Principal.
Deborah Miller, Executive Director of Growth + Relationships and Advisor to the Board
Deborah is the ultimate connector of people and ideas. For the past five years, she has worked to position LandDesign in new markets, identify strategic hires and collaborators, and evolve our seller doer culture to support sustained growth in a number of our new offices. Deborah is masterful at linking her network to opportunity, and leveraging her nearly 30 years in the industry to inform decision making, which is why we believed it was important to create a new position that allows for her to inform the board. As we continue to execute growth strategies for the firm, our offices and our people, Deborah will be an incredible asset for ensuring we are successful, providing insight and mentorship to our next generation of leaders.
