Michael Copeland has joined LandDesign as a Senior Designer, bringing with him two decades of experience as a planner, urban designer, and landscape architect. Michael began his career at Hart Howerton where he gained a deep understanding of master planning and development strategy. Throughout his career, Michael has worked with notable design firms across the country to build a diverse, global portfolio that is a testament to his aptitude for placemaking and impactful design.
Michael strives to connect the relationship between planning, urban design, and landscape architecture when creating successful urban environments. His ability to work across scales, densities, and markets allows him to strike a balance between visionary ideas and implementable design. Michael is an advocate for the profession as an active member of Urban Land Institute, Congress for the New Urbanism, and the American Society for Landscape Architects.
At LandDesign, Michael will be a strategic resource to studios across the firm, lending his expertise to bolster the ideas we present to our clients. LandDesign Partner, Richard Petersheim says, “Michael’s ability to balance storytelling with detailed design will strengthen our ability to generate excitement for what a place could be.” Michael will support a variety of projects, including large-scale master planned communities, highly amenitized resorts, and dense, urban development, that will benefit from his unique perspective as an urban designer.
