LandDesign Expands Civil Engineering Leadership in the DMV with Eli Goldman, PE

LandDesign is excited to welcome Eli Goldman, PE, as a Director in our Washington DC office, where he will support the expansion of our civil engineering practice across the DMV region. With more than 14 years of experience leading complex land development projects, Eli has grown into a strong practice leader, managing teams and guiding projects ranging from large-scale mixed-use developments and office-to-residential conversions to K–12 facilities, federal campuses, and public parks. His focus on urban development inside the Beltway, specifically in DC, the City of Alexandria, and the City of Fairfax, strengthens our ability to address the region’s most complex challenges.

At his previous firm, Eli collaborated as the civil engineer with LandDesign’s planners and landscape architects on more than a dozen projects, including the award-winning Carlyle Crossing in Alexandria. These experiences revealed a shared commitment to design excellence, client experience, and multi-disciplinary collaboration, values that will define the next chapter of his career.

“I’ve seen first-hand how LandDesign’s integrated approach delivers better outcomes for clients and communities,” said Eli Goldman, PE. “At this stage in my career, I want to make an impact by working with a firm that values client experience as much as technical excellence.”

Over the past five years, LandDesign has been growing its civil engineering capabilities in the region. Eli’s addition builds on this momentum and complements the leadership of Director, Jack Scanlon, PE, whose practice focuses on suburban growth areas like Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties. Having both started their careers at Christopher Consultants, Eli and Jack share a technical foundation and a like-minded commitment to engineering excellence. Together, they offer a balanced team of leaders whose combined expertise spans urban and suburban markets, public and private sectors, and projects of every scale.

“Eli and I share the same technical upbringing, which has shaped how we approach engineering and client service,” said Jack Scanlon, PE. “Our paths have led us to focus on different markets, mine in suburban growth and Eli’s in urban development, and bringing those perspectives together will result in even better outcomes for our clients across the DMV.”

Eli believes the region deserves civil engineering services that go beyond meeting regulatory requirements to truly elevate the client and community experience. At LandDesign, he will be supported by in-house surveyors, planners, and landscape architects to create a world-class combination that ensures seamless delivery from concept to approvals, through design and into construction.

With Eli and Jack at the helm of our civil engineering practice, LandDesign is poised to offer unmatched expertise across the region’s most dynamic markets. Their shared history, technical acumen, and complementary perspectives position our team to deliver the same exceptional design LandDesign is known for while also serving as trusted partners in every phase of land development.
